Íñigo Capellán Pérez

(Valladolid, 1986.)

Industrial Engineer from the University of Valladolid and ENSAM Arts et Métiers Paris-Tech. Master in “Electrical Energy and Sustainable Development” (ENSAM Lille, 2008) and PhD in Economics with the thesis “Development and Applications of Integrated Assessment Models for Sustainability” (University of the Basque Country, 2016).

My research focuses on analyzing and modeling energy-economy-environment systems. I study the transition to renewable energies in the context of fossil resource depletion and ecological crises, particularly climate change. My work also examines net energy implications (EROI) and the technical and social transformations needed for sustainability, including the barriers to Green Growth and the potential of de-growth and post-growth scenarios. Co-developer of IAMs such as MEDEAS and WILIAM.

Participation in many other national and international projets. I have published dozens of papers in international journals such as Energy & Environmental Science, Energy, Energy for Sustainable Development, Sustainability Science, Energy Research & Social Science, as well as contributed to books about environmental sustainability and ecological economics.
