(Modelling and simulation of energy transition scenarios towards a low-carbon economy: the Spanish case)

The MODESLOW project aims to analyse the challenge of the ecological transition towards a low-carbon economy through the design and development of an integrated energy – economy – climate change simulation and evaluation model that allows the assessment of the different scenarios of Spain’s energy transition towards a low-carbon economy in the 2030-2050 horizon. From the analytical-methodological point of view, the model will integrate in a novel way two powerful methodologies: system dynamics and input-output analysis. Although international research work based on system dynamics has grown in recent years, there is currently hardly any model that integrates system dynamics and input-output to simulate and evaluate all the significant variables of the energy-economy-climate change system in Spain, which is one of the most relevant novelties of this project.
