The Group of Energy, Economy and Systems Dynamics (GEEDS) at the University of Valladolid (Spain) is looking for a Junior Researcher to join our team in the European HYDRA project, focused on the analysis of the energy transition and the role of hydrogen in energy and economic systems. The successful candidate will work with us on the development of modelling tools to support the design of energy transition scenarios and policies.
Position details
- Contract type: Open-ended employment contract associated with the HYDRA project (project end date: 30 October 2027).
- Expected starting date: 1 October 2026.
- Working time: Full-time.
- Location: Valladolid, Spain.
- Salary: €28,789.41 gross per year (14 salary payments).
- Principal Investigator: Íñigo Capellán Pérez.
What will the work involve?
The successful candidate will join our team and contribute to the HYDRA project through:
- Developing the WILIAM model, particularly the integration of hydrogen into the economic module and its interactions with the energy module (investments, production, and household consumption).
- Developing multi-regional energy transition scenarios through participatory processes with stakeholders.
- Analysing research results.
- Preparing project deliverables.
- Publishing scientific papers resulting from the project activities.
Requirements and candidate profile
We are looking for a candidate holding a PhD awarded within the last four years who meets the requirements established in the official call to formalise an employment contract in Spain.
The position is open to applicants of all nationalities. Candidates from EU/EEA countries and Switzerland can apply under the applicable freedom of movement provisions. Applicants from non-EU countries are also eligible, provided that, by the application deadline, they have a valid administrative status in Spain that allows them to enter into an employment contract according to Spanish immigration regulations. Residence or work permits issued by other EU Member States that do not allow employment in Spain will not be considered valid for this purpose.
We particularly value candidates with training or experience in:
- Macroeconomic modelling.
- Input-Output analysis.
- System Dynamics.
- Energy transition modelling and simulation.
- The WILIAM model.
- Scientific publications related to the position.
- English proficiency.
